Two people, many placesDos personas, muchos lugares
Sebastian grew up between worlds. Born in Denmark to a Danish father and a Colombian mother, he spent his childhood in Kyiv, moved to London for university, then to the USA for work, Madrid for a master's degree, and eventually Uruguay. He has a habit of not staying still for very long.
Patricia grew up in Uruguay, the youngest of three in a beautiful family, always dreaming of travel, of learning, of growing. After finishing her university degree she decided to do something about it. She packed one bag and left on her own. New Zealand first, where she worked her way around the country and spent a season on a raspberry farm, long days outside, hands in the fruit, and she loved every minute of it. Then Southeast Asia, backpacking through places most people only ever see in photographs, the kind of corners of the world you have to actually go and find.
She did it alone, and she came home with a completely different sense of what she was capable of.
She only came back to Uruguay in 2019. A few months later Sebastian walked into a bar in Parque Rodó.

Montevideo
One night near Parque Rodó, Sebastian walked into a bar with two friends and immediately noticed a girl dancing. She was completely in her own world, long black hair, gorgeous, and honestly just looked like she was having the best time. He couldn't not go over. Using what he generously describes as his incredible flirting skills (his words, not ours), he somehow managed to get her Instagram. The whole thing lasted maybe ten minutes before he and his friends had to leave. But she didn't leave his mind.
Patricia's version is shorter. She was out with her friends, she was dancing, some tall guy appeared and started talking to her, and he was funny enough that she gave him her Instagram. Then he disappeared. She was not convinced he would write.
No pudo evitar acercarse.

Ramon
A couple of days later, after spending the whole time trying not to seem desperate, he wrote to her. She wrote back. They made plans. He picked her up, she had borrowed her friend's heels to make a great impression, and they walked to a bar called Ramon, found a spot outside, and ordered pizza and beers.
And then nothing else was needed. No nerves, no first date awkwardness, no working out what to talk about. They just fell into it. Both of them asking questions, both of them actually wanting the answers, laughing at things that were probably not that funny, losing track of how long they had been sitting there. Sebastian knew he hadn't found a girlfriend or someone to spend time with. He had found his match. Patricia says she knew too, she was just less dramatic about it.
"All it took was a pizza, two beers, and about ten minutes for them both to know."
Uruguay
Sebastian left for Christmas a day or two after that first date, but they never stopped writing the entire time he was away. When he came back, she picked him up at the airport. That was kind of the moment. No big conversation, no need to make it official. They just knew, and everyone around them knew too.
His friends knew immediately too. Patricia was a favourite from the first night she met them, and she has been a favourite in every group she has walked into since. Late night video games, date nights at the microbreweries around the city, working their way through everything on tap and arguing about which one was actually the best, weekend trips to Rocha with friends, barbecues that ran far too late, and the kind of easy happiness you don't take for granted.
Patricia had a cat called María Ema. Sebastian had never really been a cat person, but Ema was different. She was amazing. The cat earned his respect. That matters.

The hard partLa parte difícil
Almost two years passed in Uruguay, and then Sebastian had to leave for Spain. It wasn't a question of whether Patricia would come, just how and when. They did a year long distance, seeing each other for a month every three months, talking every single day. When the paperwork finally came through, she came without hesitation.
And Spain became the place where they started again, but this time together.
They travelled the entire coast of Spain, went across Europe to see friends and family, flew to Colombia, explored everywhere they could, always already planning the next one.

San Pedro
In February 2025 they moved into their little apartment in San Pedro and made it entirely their own. Plants everywhere, somehow always one more than the month before, cooking and cleaning together, watching shows at night (even though Sebastian firmly does not enjoy murder documentaries, and yet somehow they keep ending up watching them). Five years together, nearly six, and it just kept getting better.

NorwayNoruega
On a trip to see the Northern Lights in Norway, on a genuinely magical night, Sebastian finally built up the courage to do what he had known for a long time was the right thing. He asked the most amazing, loving, supportive woman he had ever met to marry him. She said yes.
The story doesn't end there, of course. It just gets better. More travel, more family, more love, more growth, and a lot more of the world left to see together.
The next chapter begins on 30 April 2027.
